I'm new to this thread and to CRNR. I just came across an article in Federal Computing Week Magazine on high end imaging. The article talks about a proposed new standard for device drivers that support high volume scanners and could expand the market for heavy duty imaging systems.

The standard would allow vendors (Bell & Howell, Ricoh, Fujitsu etc) to make advanced scanner features available to customers in a more timely fashion because it would make the same driver available for all types of scanners.

Currently makers of production scanners rely on (ISIS) a proprietary driver supplied by Pixel Translations Inc. a subsidiary of Cornorstone Imaging Inc. Currently Pixel Translations writes the drivers for every scanner shipped. According to the article, the pending Twain upgrade would give vendors the option of writing their own drivers for their products.

The article goes on to say that because no new product shipments could be made by vendors without pixel, release and delivery schedules were often delayed.

While Cornerstone and Pixel are not directly involved in new Twain version, the say they are ready to back the standard. "If that is what people want, we'll be happy to write production Twain drivers," said Kimra Hawley, Sr. VP software division, Cornerstone imaging Inc.

"It is unknown weather the government will choose future Twain-complianent scanners over more familar ISIS-based products.

It is quite a lengthy article but that is the heart. (I do not have a doc scanner so was unable to include it in it's entirety)

My question is....what does this all mean to CRNR? Also, if they received licensing fees for every scanner shipped, why is the stock such a flat-liner? I bought in at 7.75 and plan on holding but a little excitement would be nice.
