If you went to college, especially if you obtained a bachelor's degree, you are not the voice of the common man. Only about a fifth of the population has gone beyond a couple of years of college.

How do you know who is an elitist, and in what way? As far as I know, I am the only one who considers himself an elitist around here, and I am not rich, although comfortable enough. I certainly was not born rich. And my sort of elitism is this: that it is better to acknowledge that character and intelligence are not evenly distributed, and that people who know what they are doing or talking about are preferable to place in charge, instead of letting everyone wing it. Democracy is good as a means of ensuring accountability, but it is not good if one behaves as if the least common denominator is the correct standard, or the voice of the people is the voice of God........
