Derek, Seems that the satellite player who will really shake up the present players is Teledesic. In about 5 years, they're projected to challenge every broadband alternative on the planet. Alcatel's Alsthom could be another major player.

Interesting move by Bell Atlantic today. Since they've thrown their hat into ADSL, they're no longer a moving target. Could help their competition to also firm up their strategies. My read is that MMDS player CAWS has the most to gain from BA's announcement. They offer a broadband alternative to ADSL which is even less expensive to implement.

ADSL seems to be another stop-gap measure much like ISDN. Too many variables to be able to guarantee full video delivery to each customer. HFC to each consumer is their ultimate goal.

Why not cut to the chase and deliver full HFC right now to anyone wanting it? It's in our national interest. One idea is to get Congress behind this bandwagon and pass a tax law making HFC fully deductible and offer tax incentives to the providers.
