GGG,

<< Looks like the air in Korea might be clearing ... Korea Asks SK Telecom to Use Qualcomm Technology ... Seoul, Sept. 9 (Bloomberg) >>

Momentarily breaking my vow of silence on this subject (sorry Cha2) ...

Lets see .... DUFers generally say that Bloomberg is a source of FUD ... so maybe it follows that if a FUD source says something that can be interpreted as favorable to Qualcomm, then it must be true .... <g>

The article says:

"The ministry asked SK Telecom to reverse its decision" and it also says "according to a government proposal SK Telecom would initially use Qualcomm's technology and then, if it proved commercially unsuccessful, switch to using the Wide Band Code Division Multiple Access" >>

Bloomberg abstracted the above from the "Maeil Business Newspaper"?.

Please note that the article does not mention what SKT thinks about the proposal, and the MIC is purportedly "asking" not "telling" SKT what to do, which for my money is healthy.

Yesterday we also had another slightly different spin on the same subject from a Korean source that I am not familiar with:

The Ministry of Information and Communication is reportedly considering ways to relax approval procedures for IMT-2000 licensing so that applicants, who must indicate a preferred technical standard at the time of application for licensing, can switch technical standards if necessary after their applications are approved.

... this implying it might not be over when its over.

Think I'll go back into "Rip Van Winkle" mode on the continuing, new twist every day, Korea saga, standing by my original prognostication, and keeping my promise to Cha2. Wake me when its over. <g>

Meantime CDMA is CDMA. Click! Click, Click.
