I remember your telling me about that when it happened, but I didn't know that murder charges have been filed. Good.

Michael Moore, whom I am sure you don't like, he is that very tall, fat lefty filmmaker whose most well-known film is "Roger and Me," about closing the Ford plants, anyway, he has had a TV show on Bravo, which I like a lot. He recently did a show about all the black people who have been shot by cops who thought they were carrying guns, but turns out it was a wallet, a cellphone, or a comb. Funny how that never happens to white people. Maybe there is a problem with the lack of color contrast between the hand and the object. He suggested that black people use dayglow orange wallets, cellphones and combs.

I have a lot of respect for cops in general, and I know what it feels like to be scared out of your wits, but they need to handle things a better way than just killing people because they are scary. For one thing, cops probably need to learn how to deal with insane people better. Their usual tactics of dominating the situation don't work when the person is insane, on drugs, or otherwise impaired (e.g. by emotion).

Due to a incident where an insane woman recently killed a cop and then the cops killed her, one local police jurisdiction has started to send mental health professionals out on calls where there is a crazy person involved. The chief of police and the head of the mental department met over coffee and worked out the details. It sounds promising. Basically, the insane person is given the option of going to the hospital with the mental health person, or going to jail with the cops. They usually pick the hospital.
