I uncovered some interesting information concerning Photonics from 93. Yea, it is old but after you read the 93 article read the 97, also keep in mind that Photonics is licensing technology that pertains to both articles, look at the 10qsb for verification: Photonics

Product Information

Photonics manufactures infrared, wireless, personal area networks. The company recently announced an
infrared transceiver that provides connectivity to wired networks and supports MS LAN manager and
Novell. IBM announced its initial entry into the wireless market in July by licensing Photonics' technology for
three wireless adapters, including an infrared wireless adapter based on the PCMCIA standard.

Backed by Crosspoint Venture Partners, Alpha Partners, Venrock Cornerstone and Apple Computer,
Photonics has a total of $9 million in venture capital. Partnerships with IBM, Apple, and Mitsubishi/Comtron.
Since 1990, the company has been just barely profitable, with $3 million in revenues in 1992. Licensed its
chip design for its optical modem and its analog ASIC to Germany's Triumph-Adler and to another
undisclosed OEM. Financial printers are waiting for the final go ahead.
