rf_hombre, It is an interesting issue - I will find out some more. As for your numbers, the 20dB for body absorbtion plus getting out of the plane is probably about right for a seat away from a window, but next to a window I would have thought 10dB was nearer the mark. The vertical response of base station antennas is certainly very directional, but there are undoubtedly sidelobes pointing towards the sky with perhaps 10-15dB loss. John
