You mean the Mini-14 and the Mini-30? Fun guns! I'm not a fan of the 7.62 x 39 (about like a 30-30, barely enough energy to be called a "high power" round), but the rifle is easy to handle, reliable, and has enough giddy-up to be good for a lot of purposes.

Main complaints about the Ruger Minis is that they aren't especially accurate. That's true. If you want your bullets to land inside a 1" circle at 100 yards (1 moment of angle, or MOA), you don't want a Mini. But, if you'd like to put 10 rounds inside a 5" circle in 30 seconds at 100 yards, the Minis will sure do it, even with iron sights.

My Mini-14 (.223) is almost shot out; it's my "guest gun" that people like to shoot when they come to visit. It's bounced more tin cans across the prairie than a Coors truck going off a bridge. <g>

If you want something fun, it is a great gun.
