Compaq Computer iPAQ 3650

As part of a move to more Web-centered products, Compaq recently introduced the iPAQ line of consumer electronics devices. The first iPAQ handheld PC is a stunner, both in looks and performance. Its size and weight (six ounces) are comparable to the Palm III's. Blistering speed comes from a 206MHz StrongARM processor, and the TFT reflective color screen is bright enough to read outdoors. The screen also has a sidelight and a sensor for automatic adjustment. A "center action button" doubles as a speaker. The device can be synchronized with a PC via either a USB or a serial connection; additional expansion packs can accommodate
CompactFlash cards, PC Cards, and even cell phones and digital cameras. The rechargeable lithium polymer battery yields up to 12 hours of use.

Compaq's Aero line--the popular monochrome handheld PCs--is still available, and the new Aero 1550 ($299) has the latest revision of Pocket PC and 24MB of RAM. An excellent buy for those who don't need color.
