Date.' September 1, 2000

In accordance with Alberta Energy and Utility Board (AEUB) Guide 6oE; Berkley Petroleum Corp. is
providing notification to the public within 3 lon of the above well site that flaring operations are
expected to begin September 10, 2000. Activity on the well site will begin Wednesday, September 6.

Berkley will use the latest in well testing technology including a high efficiency flare stack and natural
gas incinerator. Mobile arid stationary electronic air quality monitors will be used to ensure compliance
of the Alberta Ambient Air Quality Guidelines. The testing portion of the program involves an initial
flow period or aEclean upEE followed by a main flow period. A flare stack will be used during the tnitial
flow while the incinerator will be used to burn the gas from the main flow period. The clean up portion
of the operations is expected to take 2 to 3 days while the main flow period is excepted to last
approximately 4 to 6 days. Between the initial and main flow periodsE the well will be shut in for
approximately 2 to 3 days. A propane pilot light will burn continuously on the flare stack for the duration
of the operations. The flaring operations should be finished by September22.
