<The 5000 family got the most attention at the CTIA show. The standard
MSM5000 for mobile units and CSM5000 for basestations are moving into
general sampling, while Qualcomm preps the MSM5100, an enhancement
compatible with the MSM3300 that provides full-duplex 153-kbit/second data
speeds. The MSM5500 will handle CDMA 1XRTT and high-speed data options,
while a future spin of the 5100 will move to 3XRTT, assuming the
second-generation data standard is adopted by OEMs. Meanwhile, Qualcomm
is preparing a Direct-Spread CDMA chip set, compatible with L.M. Ericsson's
views of 3G CDMA, which will be introduced as the MSM5200 family.>
