Elmer & Intel Investors - Some Good Intel News - finally !

Fry's Electronics is now selling Pentium III 1 GHz and 933 GHz Hewlett Packard Pavilion PCs.

So, Intel is now DISPLACING the AThlon in these stores.

Further, the notebook PCs at Fry's consisted of 1 AMD K62 Compaq PC and about 20 Intel Pentium III and Celeron-based notebooks ranging in speed from 500 to 750 MHz from Compaq, Sony, Toshiba and Fujitsu.

And at the time I was there, the bulk of customers (4 to 1) were purchasing notebook PCs.

So, despite Intel's major screw-up with the 1.13 GHz Pentium III, the fact is that 1 GHz Pentium IIIs appear to be hitting the markets in larger and larger volumes, as well as the fact that the fastest growing segment - notebooks - appears to be completely dominated by Intel - highlighting AMD's FAILURE with their AthWiper strategy - which was SPEED AT ANY COST and ANY POWER.

AMD is approaching ZERO presence - real fast - in the notebook market.

Intel has had some screw ups - but they have some MAJOR SUCCESSES as well.
