With respect to picking a road to travel in life, so much depends on whether the traveller is flexible enough to be able to reinvent himself if he finds he has made a wrong turn. Some people can't turn around and go back, they feel they have to keep on with what they started with.

Boy, I can't imagine someone being happy as an engineer if that's not what he wants to do in life. I've lived for 20 years with someone who has regretted every minute that he listened to his dad and became an engineer. You have my permission to tell him (Ammo's friend) that. But you should also tell him how hard it is to make a life in theater.

If I could do it all over again, I wish I had stuck with anthropology or linguistics or history, and tried to become a college professor. But I am happy enough where I am that I don't really regret the road I took. Sometimes I just think the grass on the other side of the fence looks greener, that's all.
