You have to admit the selective starvation of the Irish by the English produced some hardy folk, great literature and many famous U.S. statesmen.

I think all English are possessed by the spirit of Cecil Rhodes, the finest and perhaps last of queer English conquerors.. i.e. they are over-reaching in all things.
