Network to Net Worth: Exploring Network Dynamics

"We believe that networks are one of the few sources of sustainable competitive advantage. Once entrenched, dominant networks prove difficult to dislodge. The game is theirs to lose."

That quote from the pdf file at capatcolumbia.com sums up the reasons I'm interested in applying the dynamics of networks discussed in that article to real-world networks we discuss here nearly on a daily basis. Hopefully people interested in doing the same have had a chance to read (again) the piece while I was away or will do so soon (immediately :).

BEWARE: As in the case of the manual, participation in this specific discussion requires that you RTFF. (The last "f" is an abbreviation of "file." How you interpret the first "f" is up to you. :)

Taking things one step at a time, I'd like to lead an online discussion using the following tentative agenda:

1) My next post will be a presentation of criteria used to critique a network based on extracts from the piece;

2) Discussion will hopefully help us arrive at a consensus on ways to improve the criteria and/or the process of critiquing a network;

3) As in the case of Project Hunt, having arrived at a methodical approach to evaluating networks, hopefully we will have volunteers participating in Project Network (or a better name to be determined later) which will be a review of specific companies using a consistent format.

Are ya game? Give me a little time to post the stuff I scribbled down on the return plane ride from Peru. I'll be back atcha later tonite.
