933MHZ remains the fastest Intel I saw on sale when I checked CompUSA today. There was one model from Compaq or HP (I don't remember which). Meanwhile 1000MHZ Athlons from Compaq and HP have been in stock for months, and one of the Compaq 1GHZ models is on closeout as it's about to replaced by a faster model (according to the clerk).

Athlons are being closed out that run at speeds faster than anything Intel has been able to supply.

AMD continues to demonstrate that it can easily stay one to two notches above Intel. They sit at a given speed grade for as many months as it takes Intel to catch up, then they raise the bar.
