Peter,

about a month ago, ATT bought a bunch of set top boxes from Philips. Sure like to know, without having to guess so much, as to how much has some "wind inside".

AT&T to buy one million cable boxes from Philips
By Reuters staff

15 August 2000

Top cable television company AT&T Corp. will purchase one million advanced set-top cable boxes from Philips Electronics, the companies said on Monday.

The companies will also jointly market the cable boxes to consumers beginning in 2001, they said.

The boxes will incorporate a special processor that will allow interactive services like electronic commerce, gaming, and video-on-demand, according to the joint news release.

Users will also be able to use their cable boxes even if they move to a new home, the release said.

AT&T shares on Monday closed up 3/16 to 31-1/8 on the New York Stock Exchange. Shares of Philips were up 1-13/16 to 45-9/16 on the NYSE.
