This is happening because the K6-2 hit a MHz ceiling a few months ago and Duron STILL isn't on shelves yet. The only thing AMD has in retail now is high-end Athlons and K6-2 notebooks, which are also about to die away. I think that once Duron hits the shelves AMD's share will go back up. But that might not happen until early next year...

What I find interesting about this report is that even though AMD's retail marketshare is going down pretty fast, AMD will still have a great Q3 and produce record revenue and profits. ;)
