Palm offers less applications, less power, less memory, less color in their product line.

Let me drill deeper into your statement here.

Palm OS Vs. Pocket PC OS:
Applications: Palm OS has a lot more than Pocket PC. (Plus for Palm OS)
Power: Palm OS is a lot more efficient on power in terms of MHz and wattage. (Plus for Palm OS)
Memory: Palm OS is a lot more efficient on memory than Pocket PC. (Plus for Palm OS)

Standard Palm Inc's PDAs Vs PDAs from the whole Pocket PC camp

Applications: Pocket PC has more in Office Support and Multimedia. Palm has connectivity (Small plus for Pocket PC camp)
Power: Pocket PC has a much more powerful CPU which permits multimedia. (Plus for Pocket PC camp)
Memory: Pocket PC has a lot more memory, because of ineffeciencies in the software. (Minus for Pocket PC camp)

Palm OS based PDAs vs. Pocket PC based PDAs
Applicaitons: Palm camp wins
Power: Pocket PC camp wins
Memory: Pocket PC has more memory because of software inefficiencies. It has expandabilily with CF. The Clie offers memory stick support for extra storage. I would call this a draw.

conclusion

If you see Palm as the PDA company, then it has some work to do to catchup to the whole pocket PC camp. If you see Palm as an OS and platform company, you will see the significant lead Palm has over Pocket PC.

Oops, I forgot color. Pocket PC is clearly better than Palm OS in every way to look at color, except power consumption and the reality of making color PDAs today.
