"less applications"

Palm OS has thousands of excellent third-party applications (many free or ridiculously inexpensive) versus just a handful of uninspiring WinCE offerings. That's not really "less."

"less power"

WinCE DOES require a more powerful processor to run its OS, but you don't see the improvement in the user experience. You still wait much longer to see your apps start up in WinCE than in Palm OS. On the other hand, if you meant that WinCE consumes much more power, you were correct.

"less memory"

WinCE DOES require more memory to run than Palm OS does, but with the memory that's left over after the OS is installed, you can still install hundreds of typical games and applications on a $149 Palm OS device and still have plenty of that memory left over for personal data. Try that on your $600 WinCE machine!
