(Nasdaq: MERCS, Easdaq: MERC GR) announced today that it would be undertaking a planned 9-day maintenance and modification shutdown at its Rosenthal Pulp operation starting on September 22, 2000. The mill has been operating at a level well above a normal comparable start up phase, and management is extremely pleased with the performance achieved to date. This shutdown will enable necessary modifications to be made to the Fibre line, primarily in the digester feed area, to facilitate the smooth and continuous operation of the mill at its demonstrated above rated capacity level
