NVIDIA Dominates PC Magazine's High-Performance Graphics Tests

NVIDIA and ELSA Combine to Dominate AutoCAD Benchmarks

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Sep 8, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- NVIDIA(R) Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA chart, msgs) announced today that in PC Magazine's September 1st article entitled "The Workstation Difference" by Bill Howard, three of the six PC's reviewed featured NVIDIA-based graphics cards, including the system chosen for Editors' Choice. The top scores for AutoCAD, the world's most popular PC design software, were achieved by NVIDIA-based systems from Dell, Hewlett-Packard and Micron.

In the same issue, four of the top high performance graphics boards were tested. The ELSA GLoria II, featuring the NVIDIA Quadro GPU, was the top performer in the majority of the benchmarks. Both articles can be found online at zdnet.com.

"NVIDIA is committed to building the world's best workstation GPU," stated Dan Vivoli, senior vice president of marketing at NVIDIA. "Our partners' excellent performance in PC Magazine's roundup substantiates that the Quadro family provides an optimal blend of raw graphics power and application-specific driver enhancements that meet the needs of today's most demanding computing professionals."

NVIDIA dominated the workstation benchmark tests. In this latest roundup, six 2D workstations were tested on the ability to handle high-end applications, AutoCAD and business applications. NVIDIA based systems were applauded for their ability to outclass the competition on real-world CAD drawings as well as more difficult synthetic drawings in AutoCAD testing. "...AutoCAD 2000 involves large amounts of OpenGL code, which the NVIDIA chip sets are better able to handle," stated Cade Metz, senior writer at PC Magazine.

NVIDIA Products

The first 3D graphics semiconductor company to deliver a complete top-to-bottom family of 3D solutions, NVIDIA gives developers the advantage of a unified driver architecture across all implementations. NVIDIA's single-chip GPUs enable high-frame-rate 3D graphics, benchmark-winning 2D graphics, and high-definition digital video processing for unequaled visual realism and real-time interactivity. Optimized for both Microsoft Direct3D(R) and OpenGL APIs, the NVIDIA product line currently includes:

-- NVIDIA Quadro2 Pro(TM) and Quadro2 MXR(TM) for the professional
workstation, digital content creation, and MCAD markets. The
Quadro2 Pro is the fastest workstation graphics solution available
for the engineering professional. The Quadro2 MXR provides
cost-effective, advanced workstation capabilities and offers the
revolutionary TwinView(TM) display architecture for the mainstream
professional. Both include features such as second generation
transform and lighting and per-pixel shading.

-- NVIDIA GeForce2 Ultra(TM), GeForce2 GTS(TM), and GeForce 256(TM)
graphics processing units (GPUs) for the PC enthusiast market. The
GeForce2 Ultra is the world's fastest GPU, providing enthusiasts
the ultimate gaming platform with unprecedented geometry
processing power and per-pixel shading features. Its predecessor,
GeForce2 GTS, is a second generation GPU with radical per-pixel
shading features and incredible performance. The GeForce 256
processor started the GPU revolution.

-- NVIDIA GeForce2 MX(TM) GPU for the corporate desktop market, the
GeForce2 MX offers Digital Vibrance Control(TM), TwinView display
options, and a patented unified driver -- making it the ultimate
graphics solution for the corporate user. It leverages the
GeForce2 GTS architecture, including features such as second
generation transform and lighting and per-pixel shading, yet is
priced at one-third of the cost of the original GeForce 256 GPU.
The rich feature set, combined with its low cost, makes GeForce2
MX truly a GPU for the masses.

-- NVIDIA TNT2(TM) Pro for the performance PC market. The TNT2 Pro
features NVIDIA's award-winning, fourth-generation, 128-bit 3D
architecture that has garnered more than 400 industry awards.

-- NVIDIA Vanta(TM), Vanta LT, and TNT2 M64 for the commercial and
corporate mainstream PC markets. Also based on the original
award-winning NVIDIA TNT2 architecture, these processors offer
low-cost, high-performance choices for business and entertainment
applications.

-- Aladdin TNT2 for the sub-$1000 PC market. The first truly
integrated graphics chipset; Aladdin TNT2 redefines the
possibilities for the lowest cost platforms.
