SUNNYVALE, Calif. (Dow Jones)--General Magic Inc. (GMGC, news, msgs) signed an agreement to jointly develop and host voice systems with SpeechWorks International Inc. (SPWX, news, msgs).
Terms weren't disclosed.
In a press release Tuesday, General Magic said it will offer its customers SpeechWorks technologies as part of its magicTalk and Voice-XML-based voice systems, while SpeechWorks will offer its customers a hosted voice service through General Magic.
The companies jointly will market the combined offering.
As reported earlier, SpeechWorks signed an agreement to provide speech recognition service for users of Palm Inc.'s (PALM, news, msgs) AnyDay Web-based calendar.
General Magic provides voice application services.
SpeechWorks, Boston, develops voice recognition systems.
