Way to go SVGI - buck the PRIA trend!
Tuesday September 12, 7:00 am Eastern Time Press Release SOURCE: Silicon Valley Group Inc. Major Taiwan Foundry Orders Advanced 157 nm Lithography System From SVG SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Silicon Valley Group's (Nasdaq: SVGI - news) 157 nm lithography program took a major step forward when it received an order for its Micrascan 157 full-field step-and-scan lithography system from the leading Taiwanese pure-play foundry. This is the first lithography order SVG has received from this new customer.
``In 1998 we announced an All Optical lithography Roadmap including 157 nm. Since then, we have lead the industry in the development of 157 nm technology and are ensuring the availability of required technologies and materials,'' explained John Shamaly, president of SVG Lithography Systems. ``This new customer win validates our confidence in this leading-edge technology and demonstrates that customer support for our 157 nm lithography program is growing rapidly as new solutions are needed to meet advanced process requirements.''
``In particular, the addition of another new customer demonstrates SVG's success in expanding its global customer base,'' explained Papken Der Torossian, chairman of the board and CEO for SVG. ``By using the 157 nm tool for process development at 70 nm, this customer is leading the industry in adopting SVG's all-optical roadmap and the insertion points we've advocated for this technology.''
The Micracan 157 is a very high numerical aperture (NA) step-and-scan lithography system for critical layers. The system will operate on SVG's Cross-Performance high productivity platform at the 100 nm node and below and is capable of 200 or 300 mm processing.
