Kopin Names Chief Technology Officer:
Dr. Hong Choi from MIT Joins Kopin
TAUNTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 12, 2000--Kopin Corporation (NASDAQ: KOPN - news) announced today that Dr. Hong Choi has joined the Company in the new post of chief technology officer. Dr. Choi, 49, will be responsible for plotting Kopin's technology roadmap, identifying new market opportunities and expanding the Company's position as the dominant provider of gallium arsenide (GaAs) heterojunction bipolar transistors (HBT) for wireless and broadband communications, and miniature flat panel displays for consumer electronics.

Before joining Kopin, Dr. Choi spent 17 years at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Lincoln Laboratory, most recently as a Senior Staff Member. He is renowned in the semiconductor industry for his many contributions to semiconductor materials and devices, especially in laser development. Dr. Choi received a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 1983. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and has co-chaired conferences on semiconductor lasers and materials. Dr. Choi has published more than 100 technical papers and two book chapters, edited four conference proceedings, and given numerous presentations at leading technical conferences and universities.
