There is a rumor circulating that AWE is considering a full fledged capitulation to CDMA.

Not exactly stop the press. There is always a rumor floating that AWE is thinking of a full fledged capitulation to CDMA. The technical advantages of CDMA and weaknesses of TDMA for data make it an eventuality.

There are three dominoes: China, NOK/Europe, and AWE. None has fallen in the form of signed commitments that will generate revenue for QCOM. The BellSouth announcement, however, confirms what we already knew. One day, AWE will recognize that its technology cannot handle highspeed data transmission. Maybe today. Maybe next month. More likely in 2001-2003 window.

These three dominoes will fall. The question is when.
