I am not sure that I would put much water in the MPEG/DEC "deal" bucket either. I see similarities between this company and USA Video, now defunct, which had an arrangement with DEC as well. USA VIdeo were to manufacture TV "boxes" to receive VOD along existing tele- phone lines as well as fibre optic. USV also were involved in testing with Bell Labs, and got so far as placing their product into regional Rochester telephone system for comsumer testing. That was about the end of it. USV went belly up a couple of years back. At the time, though, there were the same series of confident press releases...and delays. I would like to be convinced about MPEG, but am not.
