The process technology required to manufacture GaAs chips is extremely difficult to master. VTSS has been developing it for years and they estimate that it would take 4-5 years for another manufacturer, no matter how deep their pockets, to duplicate it. Capacity cannot be "ramped up" as it was for DRAMs. VTSS is the only supplier of digital GaAs chips, so their capacity is the industry's capacity.
