Donner Minerals: Drilling Begins on South Voisey Bay
Project

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--Mr. Harvey Keats, President of Donner
Minerals Ltd., reports that diamond drilling has begun on the
South Voisey Bay Project. Major General Resources Ltd. is
carrying out an initial three-hole, 1800-metre program on the
Donner/Major General joint venture property.

The Program will target a strong gravity anomaly with a source
interpreted to measure 600 metres by 1200 metres. The source of
the gravity anomaly may be caused by semi-massive to massive
nickel-copper-cobalt sulphides at the base of the thick olivine
gabbro, which underlies much of the SVB Project area. Numerous
nickel-copper sulphide zones including 15 metres of 1.1% Ni and
0.8% Cu plus 1.1 metres grading 10.5% Ni and 9% Cu have been
intersected on the SVB Project within this olivine gabbro. Donner
and Major General planned to drill the same gravity anomaly in the
aborted 1999 exploration program.

Major General is operating this exploration program. The
Donner/Major General property is currently held 60% by Donner and
40% by Major General and by funding the program alone, Major
General has the right to increase its interest in the joint
venture.

Although Donner has elected not to participate in the drilling
program, the Company is in full support of Major General and their
current SVB exploration activities. However, Donner with the
support of all of the SVB joint venture partners has concentrated
its efforts in advancing the whole SVB Project and to that end has
entered into confidentiality agreements with a number of major
mining companies in the nickel business. Donner is optimistic
that it will be able to arrange for an infusion of new funds and
new ideas into the South Voisey Bay Project, especially in light
of the recent positive developments at Inco's Voisey's Bay
Project.

The SVB Project, located 90 kilometres south of Inco's Voisey's
Bay deposits, has now been the focus of five years of fieldwork by
Donner and its joint venture partners. See attachment for an
updated South Voisey Bay Project claim map.

ON BEHALF OF THE BOARD OF DONNER MINERALS LTD.

Harvey Keats, President
