well, the way i see it, the French government has a long tradition of caving in to the demands of enraged constituencies that enact a forceful enough protest...usually the populace at large tends to sympathize with the protesters and that helps the political decision process along somewhat.
the British government is another cup of tea...Maggie has shown the way in her fight against the unions and Arthur Scargill...they will try to stay the course.
the German govt. seems very much committed to raising energy taxes even further - that's the agreed price of the recently enacted tax reform.
none of the governments seem endangered by the protests as of yet. but it sure was a surprising wake-up call for the socialist establishment...imagine that, the sheep are in a fighting mood all of a sudden...
