Richard.. I dont mean to burst your bubble.. but the NEC signing is hardly a surprise.. several of the tech sites have been predicting it for awhile since Hitachi caved in and it was then found out they were selling their memory division to NEC...its also been asserted by some places that NEC and Rambus were on good terms anyhow.. so a signing wouldnt be a surprise to those sites either.

I dont doubt its good news for Rambus.. or more accurately.. good PR.. but if any of you over in the RMBS thread bothered to read the hardware sites.. you'd know that NEC was seen as the next good possibility for signing something with RMBS.

Let me add this.. Rambus is almost universally loathed in the hardware community for how it operates; most users have pinned their hopes on Micron being a US based company and one of the largest DRAM makers out there as the challenger that would not be afraid to take Rambus on.. when Rambus can beat Micron in court or somehow get them to capitulate and agree to a license.. then you can come on and ballyhoo.. but not til then.
