They are basically the AMAT of the automation sector

I don't remember hearing an AMAT cc that was anything like yesterday's PRIA cc.

Maybe I'm being a little harsh here. AMAT has lots more product lines, and is therefore less vulnerable to a setback from a single product.

Just the same, paying attention only to the tone of a cc, and the perception it created in my mind of management sleeping at the wheel while this problem grew, I just can't think of anything close that I've heard from AMAT.

I still own a little PRIA. 25% less than yesterday. I sold shares that I had bought Friday, when I thought I was getting a beaten-down bargain. PRIA was more beaten down than most stocks in the sector.

Not sure whether PRIA is a bargain now. If this 200 mm cycle peters out in 2001, PRIA's margins might not recover in time to make much money. Earnings, I mean. Top line revenue growth might recover while earnings twist in the wind due to bad margins from manufacturing problems.
