stribe30... In the end it won't make any difference if RAMBUS is successful in the patent lawsuits. A royalty will be a royalty will be a royalty in the end. The only difference is that they are having to fight tooth and nail for their rights to SDRAM and DDR, whereas with RDRAM there is no fight. There is no monopoly. They only want to be compensated for use of their technology. A monopoly is like the old ATT... they owned the telehone lines and poles and wouldn't let anyone else use them even for a price. Rambus will let you use their "telephone lines an poles" for a price. Thus no monopoly or anti-trust. The only problem here is that you have companies wanted to use the "telephone lines and poles" without paying for the use.
