Motorola Installs CDMA Network in Uruguay in $20
Million PCS Deal With Movicom

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 13, 2000-- Motorola, Inc.'s
(NYSE: MOT - news) Global Telecom Solutions Sector (GTSS) has been awarded a $20
million commercial contract to provide Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) to wireless
network subscribers in Uruguay. Motorola will deploy its 3G capable base stations in conjunction with South American cellular
provider Movicom BellSouth Uruguay.

The system is the first Personal Communication Services (PCS) CDMA cellular network available to customers in Uruguay.
The network will cover the area between the capital city of Montevideo and Punta del Este on the South American coast.

``We are very pleased to bring the very first CDMA system to Uruguay,'' said Jose Figueroa, vice president and general
manager of the Latin America and Caribbean Region for Motorola's GTSS. ``Bringing the vast array of CDMA customer
solutions, such as wireless Internet access to a completely new country, gives us great pride as we improve the communication
standards in South America.''

Uruguay follows Argentina as the second South American country in which Motorola and Movicom BellSouth have installed a
PCS CDMA system. Forty radio frequency (RF) sites are fully operational, using SC(TM)4812T technology. The network,
installed in record time, went commercial on Aug. 4. It is one of the most modern networks in the region, according to
Figueroa.
