RMBS--Before the Bell - Rambus surges even higher
NEW YORK, Sept 13 (Reuters) - Shares in Rambus Inc. (NasdaqNM:RMBS - news) surged in pre-opening trade on Wednesday after Japan's NEC Corp. said it had signed a new licensing agreement with the memory chip technology developer.

Rambus was up at $87-1/4 on the Instinet electronic broker system from a Tuesday close at $76-13/16.

NEC, the world's No. 2 chip maker, said it had signed a new chip licensing pact with Rambus, which holds more than 100 U.S. and foreign patents that it has licensed to more than 30 semiconductor companies.
