I suspect that in the bioinformatics/genomics area there will indeed be a slew of mergers, as likely bigger is indeed better. So I wouldn't be surprised to see a "gorilla" type approach, although the existing paradigm doesn't quite fit.

Of course this can become a self-fulfilling prophecy as the gorilla-types see their stock price soar to values that make acquisitions seem cheap.
