Perhaps to give the couple a more stable relationship thereby avoiding some of the problems inherent in promiscuity? It's laughable to think an unmarried gay couple is going to somehow improve heterosexual family unions while a married gay couple would injure them. Your ability to look right at an issue and not see it astounds me.
