Bill Griffeth on Power Lunch mentioned he was at Cal State Northridge in '69. I was a grad student at USC during those years. When the Kent State riots were coming down, we sent several first aid teams to CSN. Mine was headed by Steve Allen Jr. Crazy night. The Minutemen were there with guns and cameras, giving the cops ultimatums like "Get them out of here by...or we will". The students responded by getting lances from the Drama Dept and fire axes. I never thought much of the cops, but they deserve all the credit in the world for keeping things under control.

Later, we picketed with the Teamsters;just like the strikes in the news, trying to stop the scabs. Never quite figured out why, except maybe the possibility of a student-worker alliance. Anyway, I was a Teamster at the time from my cannery work, so it as cool.
