Why so pessimistic Jon? Change the world? That's what the steam engine, aircraft, telephones and television did. You and Rick seem to be wallowing in doomsday scenarios. Rick talking about Q! and $200 in the same sentence. You limiting Q! to changing the world.

QUALCOMM is going to be the ringleader in the biggest change since DNA molecules started getting their knickers in a twist a billion years or so ago.

There have been several phases on this planet:

A spinoff of earth into a molten ball
A cooling to water, rocks and gases
Carbon spinning up into DNA
DNA arguing over who would get the world's resources
Chimplike creatures growing their own and taking it all
Chimplikes inventing talking and writing, woodwork and stuff
ChimpLs replacing their muscles with the industrial revolution and inventing a billion 3D manipulative tools.
CLs then getting a communications IT revolution
CLs wondering what the hell IT was coming to
CLs using It[TM] instead of their brain
CLs being told what It wanted

QUALCOMM is creating [with a bit of help from JDSU, SDLI and all that crowd] nothing less than a new life-form on this planet. Symbiotic with [for a while] but superseding the human form. A bit like some of us are not so CL anymore, even though we came out of the same DNA crucible and close inspection of our forearms discloses suspicious natural insulation. Some reproductive rituals seem quite CL too.

What we are seeing is something bigger and qualitatively different from all of DNA history combined. It is NOT for our benefit, anymore than we are to benefit chimps and other antecedents of ours.

In the process, Q! won't take its place alongside Cisco and those other bit players. Q! will be Above and Beyond.

Let's have a bit of optimism around here instead of the "$50 to $70" trading range and the puny "change the world" stuff. This is BIG!!

Everyone should GET REAL!! You can't see the forest for the trees [to coin a phrase]. I have no idea why you would be looking for forests or trees. This is no jungle stuff. Q! is the crucible for It just as chimps were the crucible for you and me [well, not me, but lots of you people on this thread].
