Hi all; DDR news for the day ABIT MB, and ALi mobile systems:

According to this link from PCNews Hong Kong, ABIT will release two new Socket-A motherboards based on the AMD-760 chipset in December. Following with the company's current motherboard product lines, these will be the KG7 and KG7-RAID:

AMD-760
3 x 184-pin DDR SDRAM DIMMs
6 PCI, 1 ISA, 1 AGP
HPT370 RAID (for KG7-RAID)

Furthermore, ABIT will update the KT7 with IEEE-1394 Firewire, becoming the KT7-RAID-1394.

ALi's Mobile Plans

Things are going well for ALi's renewed push into the chipset market, according to this article. As it turns out, ALi's mobile MAGiK1
[DDR] Athlon chipset (M1647 and M1646M) is popular among OEMs for upcoming systems.

Acer, Toshiba, IBM, and HP (via a Taiwanese company) have started designing mobile Athlon systems using ALi's chipset. Compared to VIA, the company seems to have a head start, since VIA's chipset is still having some kind of "boot-up problem" and it hasn't passed compliance tests from both Microsoft and Energy Star.

ALi will follow up MAGiK1 with an integrated chipset codenamed NAPA-11 K7, featuring an integrated video adapter from Trident. NAPA-11 apparently supports PC100, PC133, VCM, and DDR SDRAM in addition to mobile features like LVDS (low voltage differential signal) and PowerNow!. PowerNow! will allow the CPU clock speed tobe reduced in 50 MHz increments to conserve battery power.

First production of NAPA-11 K7 is expected to begin next month, though we assume this means first silicon.

A big thanks goes out to KH for finding this information.
