P6 & wireless trial with AMX Corp AUSTRALIAN TECHNOLOGY TRIAL AMX has deployed network and radio frequency equipment at two separate test sites: * Newcastle (Hybrid Networks equipment); and * Sydney (Spike Broadband Systems equipment). Both systems are connected to fibre networks via Cisco high-end routers and fibre switches. Wireless links have been established at several customer sites. All connections are performing reliably at high speed (up to 8 Mbs with low bit error rates) in all types of weather. AMX is attaining outstanding performance in Line of sight (LOS) and near LOS conditions at distances of up to 15 kilometres from the base station. At the conclusion of the trial, final commercial arrangements will be negotiated, orders placed and the network rollout commenced. A number of sites connected for the trial will continue on a commercial basis from the close of the trial. PSInet are excited about the possibilities of the relationship in providing Wireless solutions to customers. PSINet have provided extensive logistic and technical support to the trial and has extended WLL connections from their own network as part of the trial. stockhouse.com
