Carl:
comments about the pricing of RDRAM vs availability &c.: #reply-14245302. How's it look now?

Well I tell you since you asked for it.

Two things are holding back RDRAM pricing.

1) Price
2) Lack of processor to support it's capabilities

RE PRICE.
Since Samsung controled the effective price of RDRAM by neing only supplier able to deliver in volume; the price they named has what it sold for. Don't you think for one minute that the price of SDRAM/DDR is much lower because of the fierce price competition to produce it cheaply by many suppliers.
If you don't understand the recent DELL/Toshiba/Kingston Tech announcements as a means to open up a alternative more cost competitive volume producer of RDRAM to Samsung, there is no use in talking to you futher.

RE Lack of processors
No one knows the exact effect the P4 sales and performance will have on RMBS. No doubt it will have a major effect on RDRAM and the end game for RMBS's SDRAM patent prospects. I plan to watch and see before pronouncing final victory or defeat for RMBS over DRAM manufacturers. The P4 sucess/failure holds much more peril for INTC and tech sector investors prospects IMO.
