I wasn't looking for leather seats when I bought my Rover, I was looking for a stick shift. I hate hate hate automatic transmissions. Rover quit making them in 1996, so I had to buy the car used in 1998. I test drove a Cherokee and an Explorer and a Land Rover Discover and decided the Discovery was what I wanted, but given the lousy track record of Rover before BMW bought them, I decided I wanted the dealer warranty. So I called up and down the Eastern seaboard and located one for sale at the dealership in Greensboro, North Carolina, with a stick, the only one I could find after looking for several weeks, so in my mind the leather seats were irrelevant, I wanted the car if it was in good shape, and it was. Not much in the way of negotiating room when you drive all the way from Fairfax to Greensboro, they knew I wanted the car so I paid the asking price but they threw in the warranty for free.
My dad has one of the new Ford trucks that have the double cab, and Chris sat in the back all the way down to Venice and back and his only complaint was being stuck next to Kammer. I guess you know that automatics are better for pulling things on a trailer. He likes his truck a lot better than his Yukon. |
