There is no doubt that there will be a tsunami of sales
of flash stored MP3 noise. Great for SNDK, but, unfortunately, ultimately a poison pill for the industry.
Let's face it, MP3 music sounds like crap. It's a terrible
medium for accurate reproduction. The 16bit CD is self
limiting enough, and it is rare to find a well produced/recorded CD. JVC's XRCD 20 bit CD's are considerably better, but still short of the mark when compared to a well recorded RCA Living Stereo LP of
60's-70's vintage. So, like so many things in the new
world culture, music reproduction quality is ramped into
a downward spiral that makes it less appealing to the
consumer. Audio fatigue is almost instantaneous with this
crap and as a result there will be less and less time that
people spend listening to music.
Everyone looses in the end. Well, almost everyone, in the
interim SNDK will make a ton of money. LOL.
