AMERICAN POWER CONVERSION INTEGRATES POWERNET SNMP MANAGER WITH
HEWLETT-

Packard's OpenView Network Node Manager on Windows NT

WEST KINGSTON, R.I., May 20 /PRNewswire/ -- American Power Conversion
(Nasdaq: APCC) (APC), the worldwide leader in power protection
solutions, announces the integration of APC's PowerNet(R) simple
network management protocol (SNMP) Manager with Hewlett-Packard (HP)
OpenView Network Node Manager (NNM) for Windows NT. This "snap-in"
graphical user interface (GUI) power management software allows HP
OpenView users the ability to manage APC's award winning Smart-UPS(R)
uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) remotely.

"We are pleased that APC has chosen to integrate HP OpenView's NNM on
Windows NT," said Oliver Helleboid, general manager of HP's Network and
System Management Division. "APC's new PowerNet SNMP Manager is fully
compatible when installed with HP Openview NNM and offers users the
ability to remotely manage APC's UPSs on the network."

APC PowerNet SNMP Manager provides graphical and menu-driven management
of APC UPSs on the network and is launched directly from the HP
OpenView NNM for Windows NT enterprise map. PowerNet SNMP Manager
presents a user-definable desktop of power and environmental
information panes, while enabling the user to assert full control of
the UPS, as well as its operating parameters, through a menu-driven
interface.

"Resource specific management tools like PowerNet SNMP Manager are
critical in converting discrete, often cryptic, data into a real-time
picture of activity on the enterprise network," said Doug Rademacher,
general manager of APC's Software Division.

List pricing for the PowerNet SNMP Manager for HP OpenView NNM for
Windows NT is $499 and is expected to ship on 08/30/97.

The benefits of PowerNet SNMP Manager for HP OpenView for Windows
NT include:

-- Remote SNMP UPS status warn administrators before problems occur:
PowerNet Manager reports over 20 UPS status conditions on the manager
desktop.

-- Remote SNMP UPS testing prevents downtime: WAN administrators can
remotely test UPS resources or schedule automatic periodic battery
tests.

-- Centralized menu-driven configuration tools for remote UPSs saves
time and money: LAN administrators can now change UPS parameters
remotely, rather than physically visiting each affected system.

-- APC and HP assurance of safe and proper operation: APC has been an
HP premier partner since 1995. HP's Premier Partner Program is
designed to ensure tight integration of third party applications with
HP Products. APC's PowerNet SNMP Manager for HP OpenView NNM for
Windows NT is fully compatible and the user interface is consistent
with that of the HP platform.

-- View system integrity at a glance: The PowerNet Manager presents
the user with a UPS status notification, as well as 5 permanent status
icons which display real-time representations of critical UPS
operations, the utility line, battery status, overload warning and
communication integrity.

-- Monitor remote environmental conditions: WAN administrators can
monitor temperature and humidity conditions, as well as four zones of
Form C dry contact inputs with an interface pane to APC Measure-UPS(R).

PowerNet SNMP Manager for HP OpenView NNM for Windows NT joins PowerNet
SNMP Manager packages for HP OpenView NNM for UNIX, HP OpenView for
Workgroup Node Manager for Windows, PowerNet SNMP Manager for HP
