<<whatever fairy tale is needed>> Heinz, that is exactly right - every organ of the gov't will be employed to keep the present administration in place. The parable of the Emperor's New Clothes is truly the most fitting. Everyone from the economists, to the Fed, to the analysts, is quite busy complimenting the Emperor. The key thing to look for is the little boy that says otherwise, because the Emperor's subjects clearly show no sign of doing so. And I do agree that it is amazing that no independent economist (as if...) stands up and calls it all a sham. When the tide reverses they will be falling all over themselves to find justifications.
