There exists major differences between what Aware does and what Virata does. Virata makes components used in digital subscriber line (DSL) equipment. Aware provides IP and designs ASIC cores used by component makers. Aware releases statements when they have something new to offer their existing and potential customers. Aware's not the one to comment on a customers progress...that is for the customer to do. Both Virata and Aware have very little if anything to say about a customer R&D, that's a taboo. Intel, ADI, AMD, NEC, STM and all the others have said very little and that is status quo. Aware has said it over and over again...they are bound by secrecy agreements and are prevented from saying much at all. We can all imagine how much Intel, LU & ADI would want to know what the others are doing inside their closed doors.

As for ADI in particular...they were one of the very early chip makers who became an AWRE customer and were quick to get going on ADSL chipsets. Intel, AMD and others were late.

It's been said that AWRE is a stock to buy and set aside, but not one to watch on a daily basis....it's just TOO damned frustrating.
