Wonder how many QCOM ASICs have been shipped for this application? Maybe not that many yet, but I think this is big news for what it portends for expanding wireless data collection in ordinary, every day applications. Advantage for using CDMA here may not be speed (14.4k should work fine for this type of application); it is system capacity as these applications proliferate. Also, it is another way for the SP to make money. We want the SPs to be able to make money on wireless data. Another thought. As the use of these wireless data recovery systems expands, it will include plants and facilities in out of the way locations. Enter G*!
