No, the big deal is that it allow the unit to buffer readings all day long and then bulk transfer at night at off peak times, so it really does not present much sytem load to theSprint network, but allows them to amortize their costs with these minutes.

I used to think of off peak data as the DRAM of the wireless industry. by this, I mean in the Semi industry, it was always the practice to make DRAMS at cost, no profit in order to keep the fab running and drive down teh amortixzation costs and run the leanring curve and loading curve way up. this would allow SPRINT to amortize their equipment wiht off peak minutes even if they sold it out at a very low bulk rate. As it is now, they have alot of unused minutes in the middle of the night. supose that it costs them 2 cents a minute to produce off peak minutes, then if they sell all available minutes at 2 cents, they are not LOOSING 2 cents a minue times all those channels.

this is good for Sprint.
