In reference to my previous post, I think it is fair to ask the following: Besides a perhaps temporary 40% increase in stock price, what does this announcement mean? The first thing it means to me is, dare I say it, SALES! I'm not sure how much or how soon, but it should mean sales of more than whatever the amount the parents of the officers(to quote someone else from this board) have mustered. The other thing it means is that there are applications beyond laptop computing for which the AERN battery might be more appropriate. I have been following this stock(and losing money) for about 14 months now and sold most of my position in January. I sold then because I met the CEO and CFO at a conference and was not convinced that the AERN battery would ever meet the power/weight/size requirements of the consumer. I think on power it would do fine, but not necessarily on weight and size. I asked the CEO if he was actively considering other applications, and he said that although their efforts were focused on the large laptop market, he was open to other creative ideas. Since I didn't have any at the time, and since I was skeptical about the potential in laptops of the current technology, I sold most of my position(but not all). Now I am encouraged that there is indeed an application that might work(satellite telephony, if I understand correctly). There are also probably others out there.
The annual meeting of AERN will be on May 22. I will not be able to attend. If anyone on this board does attend, please ask about the revenue implications(and earnings implications) of the most recent announcement and the time frame involved. Also, I am of course curious as to the state of the OEM laptop sales effort. Perhaps it is time to give up that effort and focus on other more realistic applications(I'm not yet convinced that this is completely unrealistic, but I'm getting there)
Good luck to all.
